IMAGE AS WITNESS

In this Friday night special programme we bring together two documentary films: the short Shattered Memory by Hayat Laban, which offers a view inside the life and work of photojournalist Mahfouz Abu Turk since the first Intifada in 1987; and the feature Yalla Parkour by Areeb Zuaiter, which recounts the relationship between filmmaker and athlete as it records final glimpses of a pre-October 7th Gaza. Both films highlight the role of image and imagemaker(s) as witness, exploring the physical and psychic dimensions of acts of witnessing as forms of resistance.
