Held five years after the first edition, the 2020 PFFA was also self-financed and executed during one weekend at a small art house movie theatre. Entitled Cinema of the Palestinian Revolution, it focused on legacies of militant Palestinian filmmaking. Its aim was to bring attention to restored archival materials from the Palestinian Film Unit, as well as to the Palestinian women's movement. The lineup expanded significantly to include films ranging from dramatic features to sci-fi shorts. It featured directors Mohanad Yaqubi and Azza El-Hassan’s, Jumana Manna, Mahasen Nasser-Eldin, Annemarie Jacir, Larissa Sansour, Mai Masri and Nahed Abu Awwad, along with films by Mahdi Fleifel and Muayad Alayan.
The festival was revived with the intention of continuing as an annual film festival; however, all cultural events were interrupted by the Covid epidemic for approximately three years.
